Nissaki is one of the jewels of the North East Coast — a 3km stretch of stunning coastline that takes in small mountain hamlets, secret bays, and a pretty harbour that acts as the heart of the area. The water here is among the clearest on the island, ideal for snorkelling over the rocky seabed.

The harbour tavernas are a real highlight. Miltos Restaurant, perched on the rocky outcrop above the sea, has been run by the same family since 1955 and remains the most popular table in the village — book ahead in August. For a quieter evening, head up the hill to Spartilas for something more authentically local.

Kassiopi is the most complete village on the north-east coast — a proper, working Corfiot community with a Byzantine castle, a harbour full of fishing boats, and a square ringed with restaurants that comes alive every evening. It's the best of both worlds: total relaxation by day, real atmosphere by night.

Emperor Nero once performed here; Tiberius had a villa nearby. Today Kassiopi is rather more relaxed, but it still has the bones of something special. Hire a small boat from the harbour and you can reach some extraordinary secluded coves within 20 minutes that feel utterly untouched.

Kalami is where Lawrence Durrell wrote Prospero's Cell, and the White House where he lived still stands at the water's edge — now a taverna where you can sit on the terrace and understand entirely why he never wanted to leave. The bay is small, sheltered, and perfectly formed.

This is Corfu for those who want beauty and quiet over facilities and nightlife. The water is exceptional and the sense of escape genuine. Neighbouring Kouloura — a tiny horseshoe harbour — is five minutes away and one of the most photographed spots on the island.

Barbati has one of the longest and most beautiful pebble beaches on the north-east coast — a long, curved bay backed by olive trees, with that characteristic impossibly clear water. The beach shelves gently enough for younger children, and the beachfront restaurants serve reliably good fresh fish.

It's close enough to Ipsos and Pyrgi for convenience, but feels entirely its own — quieter and more residential than the resort strips further south. Several of our most popular family villas sit above the bay with spectacular terrace views.

Pelekas is a hilltop village with one of the most famous viewpoints on the island — Kaiser's Throne, where Wilhelm II would come to watch the sunset. The views across olive groves to the sea are genuinely breath-taking, and the village itself is authentically Corfiot: small churches, old men in kafeneions, cats on every wall.

Kontogialos (Pelekas Beach) sits below, a sandy stretch with a handful of sun loungers and a reliable taverna. It's not the most developed beach — which, frankly, is part of its charm. The west coast gets the afternoon sun and delivers Corfu's most spectacular sunsets.

Agios Gordios has one of Corfu's most dramatic settings — a wide sandy bay flanked by sheer rock stacks rising from the sea, with the hills of the interior as a backdrop. It's a proper beach resort with watersports and beach bars, but the scale of the scenery makes it feel anything but ordinary.

The beach stretches for over a kilometre and the sand is soft and golden. Villas here tend to be more affordable than the north-east coast, offering excellent value for families looking for a big sandy beach as their base.

Kommeno is a green peninsula jutting into the sea just north of Corfu Town — exclusive, quiet, and very beautiful. Some of our grandest and most architecturally distinguished villas are found here, set in substantial gardens with private pools and sea views across to the Albanian mountains.
